retro beach house

I just picked up the Sept. issue of House Beautiful and I loved this beach house they had featured. Here are some of my favorite rooms.

We are in the process of re-doing our Patio now and when I saw this table I wanted it. It is the exact size and shape I need and I love the color. Of course when I went to look where it was from, it was a retailer in France. It seems like this always happens when I find something perfect. So back to the hunt a little closer to home.

secrets of a stylist

Loved last week episode of Secrets of a Stylist. My two favorite pieces were the beautiful brass shelving unit and the Deco chair. The new season of Design Star started a few weeks ago. Emily was so good from last season and this time they have designers that are making it interesting again!

The March-April issue of Lonny magazine is out and as usual there is tons of great stuff in it. One of my favorite things was these rooms decorated by Daniel Pafford. I loved his decorating tips and how beautiful the rooms turned out. You can scroll through it all here.

fiddle leaf fig tree

What a beautiful houseplant via fromtherightbank. The latest winner of Design Star Emily Henderson put one in her winning design {above with the green sofa}. Love to have one in my own house. I have a perfect spot for it. They are saying you can get them at Home Depot. I will have to check that out.

bamboo trellis vanity bench

I love this vanity chair for the bathroom that is being sold by Jenny{little green notebook} and it is only $35. It is exactly what I have been looking for. Unfortunately it was sold in Virginia at a flee market, far from me.

living room decor

I was reading Coto De Texas.and came across this beautiful space Nate Berkus designed for his living room of his Chicago home. I had seen it before but I had forgotten how much I loved his decor. He also has great design tips for creating a home of your own.
1. Love walking through your front door
2. Your home should feel collected over time
3. Let each room tell a story of who you are
4. Make your home your own
5. Create a space that grounds you
6. Your home is one of your greatest reflections

My favorite #3!

small space decorating

We are going to be moving in a couple of months. I am excited about the move because we will be living close to my family and only a mile and a half from the beach! I love the beach weather in Southern California, it is as close to perfect as you can get. The other great thing is I am really familiar with the area because I grew up and lived there for 25 years. One big challenge with this move though is I am going from a house of 3500 sq. ft. to a house of 1200 sq. ft. This is going to require completely different decorating. Since my living dining area is going to be so much smaller I have started gathering pictures for inspiration. The pictures above are a few of my favorites for a small space.

orange and black decor

Since its Halloween weekend its a perfect time to post these pictures of a cute condo I saw decorated in orange and black. I wouldn't normally think of using these colors but love these rooms especially the dining room. Orange decor is everywhere now though and really adds a pretty brightness to a room.

lonny magazine

Today was the launch of the online magazine Lonny, headed by former market Domino editor Michelle Adams. It appears that everyone is loving it as much as I am. What is cool about it being online is if you see something you love you just click on it and it takes you right were you can find it. Love this feature! Above are some of my favorite photos from their first issue. Check out the whole thing for all its great articles, tips and beautiful decor.

restoration hardware

Yesterday I was reading an interesting post on one of my favorite blogs Cote De Texas about Restoration Hardware and their new line of pieces. They are done in Belgian design and are so gorgeous! She thought Target might pick up on this hottest new look so it would be affordable for the masses, as these pieces are quite pricey. I have a few items from Restoration Hardware but they don't compare to these new pieces. I love the lighting, just amazing! Check out her blog for real people's houses with good design that she spotlights, another reason I love reading her.
