What did this amazing guy do when he wanted to propose to his girlfriend? He put together all the e-mail notes between the two of them for the last four years and sent them to Studio on Fire, who makes unique letterpress products. They collected and bound together the e-mails in a beautiful letterpress book to give to his girlfriend the night he proposed. What a lucky girl!
I found a new blog recently that is now one of my favorites called Domestic Reflections. Jora is a young mom with 2 little children. She blogs about beinga stay at home mom, recipes she makes for her family and all things domestic. I was so surprised a few days ago as I was perusing apartment therapy to come upon a tour of her house. Oh my gosh, I was so stunned! She is so humble, I had no idea she had such a gorgeous house. Her husband and her both worked on remodeling this house. I loved it all especially the modern design of the pool. Just breathtaking. She even raises chickens and has and organic garden! So inspiring. You can see her entire house tour here.
I love that the Obama's are planting an organic vegetable garden. It will be the first garden that has been planted since Eleanor Roosevelt's victory garden during World War 11. This garden is a great example of how eating locally grown fruits and vegetables is so much more healthful and delicious for all of us.
I love the concept of non-matching bridesmaid dresses. One idea from Kienzekate is using a similar theme from different Antropologie dresses. In a post from Zinks Designthey use different shades from one color. I came across a wedding blog with a cute way to help the bridesmaids choose their dress. The bride decides the color family she wants and sends her bridesmaids a paint chip card to help them select a dress they love.
What stylish clothing they have for little boys atKnuckleheads! For my grandson Noah my daughter and I also love the children's line atH&M which has a great look, great value and great fit.
For anyone planning to downsize from their large home (me)or decorating new spaces (my daughters) this post from stylecarrot about interior stylist Erin Gates home is inspiring. In designing her 1400 sq. foot condo she created a beautiful space, by doing the work herself and all on a budget. You can read more about her home in an article, Small is the New Black by Marni Elyse Katz here.
I am so loving these cards from le papier designs. They have different silhouettes you can pick from to match your children and then they add their names below. They would be so cute to frame too!
At Tangled and Truea parenting blog they had a great idea of how to celebrate St. Patricks day with your kids. You make little leprechaun feet and put them in the house where the tiny feet lead to a treasure. For the treasure you fill green buckets with all things green. So cute!
What a beautiful beach house on Galveston Island in Texas. It was Coastal Livings idea house for 2008. This kitchen is one of my favorites and what a great bunk house and bathroom for boys!
I love this idea from Bunny Cakes. She chose one day out of the year as a holiday to celebrate their family. She picked the day her husband and her met and they have their family day holiday on this day every year. She decorates a cake and they look back at their photo albums to see all the memories they have made together. What a great tradition!
The beautiful book Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross just came out with creative projects that just take a short time to make. This is the perfect thing to get me motivated to start sewing again. I did make a pillow a few months ago and I need to get started on making two more for my daughter's living room. The cute apron in this book would be perfect to make after that.
Came across The Jewels of New York a food blog by Diana Yen and Lisel Arroyo. They were just recently on Martha Stewart and made beautiful Valentine cookies that looked like stained glass. On their blog they showcase what New York has to offer through a collection of seasonal and local recipes. So lovely!
What a cute idea this is! Self adhesive chalkboard wall decals you can hang anywhere in your house and write on. Spell it Out Design's etsy shop has them here.
I went to Target to pick up some note cards today. I needed some male types for the men in my family. You would think this would be an easy task. Wrong, they had nothing. It was all just thank you cards. The few note cards they had were flowery and feminine. So I went back home and got on etsy and found beautiful bicycle ones from jessicagm perfect for my husband who loves biking. I then found some ones I love at Black Pearl Press.
I came across this photoshoot for Lily & Jae on Unruly Things. It brought me back to when I was young and the camping trips we went on. It really captured the whole camping experience. Their clothes are so cute, a little pricey but fun to browse.
I have been eying these books for quite some time! Now that my birthday is almost here and they are in paperback, it will be a good time to get them. The first one Local Flavors by Deborah Madisonintroduces the reader to farmers markets around the country and the benefits of eating locally grown produce. The second one How To Pick A Peachby Russ Parsons takes us season to season and introduces us to each vegetable and fruit, how it is grown and how to choose, store and prepare it.Both these books should be great resources for understanding and enjoying my favorite foods better.
Studio on Fire is a design and letterpress business that anyone who loves letterpress would want to check out. They have a interesting blog Beast Pieces that showcases their designs and aspects of the letterpress workplace. This beautiful 2009 calendar is an example of their work and is available in their online store.
Loving these ruffled bathing suits in yellow, red, floral and daisy! After a gorgeous summer like day and a barbecue with tri-tip, scalloped potatoes, corn and wheat berry bread, I'm feeling beach season will soon be upon us.
